| The
Farmers
Kopplin's blieves in responsible consumerism. Long-term sustainability
is among our highest values, and this translates all the way to the
farmers who grow our coffees. Fair Trade and organic certifications
come with a high price tag, and even farms that meet or excced these
standards may not be able to register due to the cost.
Kopplin’s relationships are transparent.
We
know who we’re buying from and ensure that the coffee
we buy can be traced back to farms whose practices meet or exceed
Fair Trade standards, rather than buying only from farms that can
afford certifcation.
Coffee is like any other agricultural product on the market,
some producers “get it” and others don’t... Kopplin’s
continually searches for those that do. “Getting it” means
working with people who understand that humans and coffee are a part
of the environment. Part of sustainable agriculture is taking
care of the land and not stripping it bare to plant coffee. Part of
responsible consumerism is taking care of the people who work on
the land.
